Batiks
David Mulika - These works are all done by David Mulika, our representative in Uganda. They are batiks on cloth and measure 15"x30". David is a graduate with a BA in Art and Design from Kyambogo College in Kampala, Uganda, and is the brother of Ssensalire, whose work is also represented.
Ssensalire - These are all produced by the artist Ssensalire, also a graduate of Kyambogo College, Kampala, Uganda. They are batiks on cloth and measure 17"x28". Ssensalire is the brother of David Mulika.
Oil On Canvas
Walter Brothers - These are oils on canvas done by a group of three brothers from Zanzibar. They met David at an art event in Zambia, at which they exchanged work with each other. The three brothers are Msumi, Mustapha, and Sareh. Unfortunately, the photos do not quite do these paintings justice, as there turned out to be a bit of a glare, as these paintings are very colorful and shiny, and they were photographed outside on the grass. Also unfortunately, the largest paintings, Msumi 1, Msumi 2, and Msumi 3 did not survive the journey over from Africa very well. Some of the paint has cracked and chipped off on these three pieces, particularly around the outside of each painting. Some of this can be negated through proper framing, but some of the flaws will still be noticeable.
